thin98 percent of all people who lose weight gain it back within five years. This proves that the real reason we find it difficult to  “keep control” over our bodies is a symptom of something else. That “something else” is exactly what Sensorium Mindfulness and Meditation helps you find.

I am yet to meet anyone who believes there is an easy way to lose weight.

Diets teach us to disconnect from our body and use willpower to “control” our eating and exercise habits, as a means of you are disconnecting from the richest and most tangible reality of your being. Your body. Yet ask anyone who struggles with their weight what they need to do in order to have a healthy body and the answer will usually be to control it.

However, what control does is smother our feelings and keeps what we really need to experience/reveal about ourselves at bay. It makes us think of our body as something separate from our mind and teaches us to ignore the signals and messages that our body try’s to communicate with us.

By adding awareness to therapy, especially around weight loss and body image we can touch the very place where we originally stored the experiences that made us disconnect and lose trust with the thing we need to connect with most - our body.

And then as time goes on and the therapy gains momentum, we learn how to let go of the emotional pain that is blocking our weight loss goals. We do this by experiencing probably for the first time ever "why" we sabotage our eating plans and more importantly how we can transform them - so that eating a better diet isn't just something that "we do" but becomes an intrinsic part of who we are.

How Does Mindfulness Therapy for Weight Issues Work?

When we breathe deeply into our bodies and “connect” with our blockages to living a more natural life  – not only do we learn how to relax but we also learn how to break up our patterns of negativity. We discover how to find acceptance for who we are and what we have experienced, which then allows the real reasons as to ”why” we overeat or sabotage ourselves come to the forefront of our awareness.

This new awareness and ability to “come into your body” as opposed to “disconnecting” from it, then gives you permission to live comfortably in the skin you have – knowing that through “self-love” rather than “self-hate” is the only way you will find true freedom and liberation to live without the fear of food or gaining weight ever again.

Just because someone is a size 8 – don’t think they have it all under control as often below this surface is a sense of absolute fear that they will never ever be able to maintain what they have achieved.

Sensorium Therapy with Zara Cordella – Coming into your Body.

So what does learning to “live in or come into your body” mean exactly?

Learning to come back into your body with Sensorium Therapy is about discovering how to be present, grounded, open, aware and not scared to find out what’s really at the core of who you are and what you are refusing to let go off. And then by bravely working through your emotional and physical barriers, one by one, via listening and connecting to what your body has to share with you – long term changes and transformations to your life, behaviours and body can occur.

Until we know and acknowledge what is holding us back - we can never truly move forward. If we are to come into harmony with our body, we need to do more than an adjustment to our way of living – we need a revolution in the way we understand and connect with ourselves.

A Clients Experience

A client recently told me the thing that fascinated her most about her Sensorium Therapy journey was its unpredictability and that she never knew what her body and thought patterns would reveal to her next. She had initially come to me for help with weight loss issues, yet was so used to disconnecting from her body and observing it as something that had to be “controlled” rather than “connected with” that it took a few weeks of mindfulness therapy before she was able to see where the real answers to her weight loss and consequent self-esteem issues lay.

After several sessions of meditation and mindfulness therapy, she began to see a pattern forming as to why she was overeating and how her past food choices, diet plans and extreme levels of exercise had caused her body to begin working against her. She was then able to begin connecting the dots as to how and why these patterns had begun, and more importantly how to break them. Consequently she was then able to change the way she responded to food – because she now had a deeper awareness for the first time ever why she did what she did.

The only way you can change your body is to come back into your body and that is exactly what Sensorium Therapy does.

Control verses Freedom

Control smothers our feelings and keeps what we really need to experience/reveal about ourselves at bay. It postpones our true awakening and integration of our past experiences with our present and future and stops us living with truth and freedom.

Yet when we look at how we really live on a day-to-day basis, we see that it is not just our weight we are trying to control, it’s nearly every single aspect of our life. We try to control our spending, our emotions, our past, our relationships, our work, our future and even the way we relate to ourselves. We end up falsely believing that the only way to live our life successfully is to ignore our natural urges and instincts and yet we still live without the results we think control will give us.

With Sensorium Therapy we start to realise, then experience, that we don’t need to live in a constant battle ground of control and willpower and that there is another way to live. We discover that by trying to make our body behave by ruling it with our head is a futile exercise, and that for real change and transformation, we need to come back into the real place where change takes place. The body.

Control tries to create order, which is the opposite of authenticity and living in harmony with oneself. However, when the body begins to let go and relax with the deep relaxation Sensorium Therapy brings - profound shifts in both our emotional and physical awareness begin to occur and our mind and body begin to integrate again. The separation of mind and body that created your sense of worth around food and how you respond to it change, and you are able to make the connection as to why these issues arose in the first place. And then with time, patience and acceptance you can learn to come back into your body and all it has to share with you.

Zara Cordella ~ Conversations with your body.

When we breathe deeply into our bodies – not only do we learn to relax but we also learn how to break up our patterns of negativity. We learn (probably for the first time in many years) how to be comfortable within our own skin, and trust that by connecting with the messages and signals our body gives us on a moment to moment basis, that we can achieve a healthy long-term relationship with ourself, with food and with the body we live in.

We learn that awareness is the way to freedom and that control limits our ability to be who we really are. The rest really does begin falling into place meaning you won’t just think about eating better, you will eat better because eating has become a more natural part of who you are as opposed to something which you do.
